Bunk
Bed
My son lived in a
mobile home while attending college. It wasn't large, and space
was at a premium. My grandchildren needed bunk beds, but there
wasn't room for a full size set. He had a youth bed (crib sized
mattress) with a metal frame (top), so I built a lower section to go
with it. It is made of pine. The corners are two 2X4's
glued together, and the stringers are 1x6's. We bought common
lumber at the home center, then planed it down and softened the
corners. This was an afternoon project that has served well for 3
years. My son's family just moved into their first house, so the
grand kids can finally graduate to twin size beds.
